In an expansive business move, ARS/Rescue Rooter, has acquired the pioneer of cooling and heating equipment development and services, Goettl Air Conditioning. ARS/Rescue Rooter, which manages service stations in 25 states and Washington D.C., is a subsidiary of the Tennessee based American Residential Services LLC, that acquired this brand to further enrich their presence in Arizona.
Goettl Air Conditioning will retain their current operation set up, with the widely respected Goettl brand remaining intact and the current employees retained. Former president Dan Burke, along with other former owners, will return to the brand to manage, lead and operate the company. As the original team, the Goettle that the community has known and respected delivers refreshing perspectives on engineering while providing valuable industry discernment.
Goettl Air Conditioning was founded in 1939 by the Goettl brothers in Phoenix, Arizona. Back during a time when technology revolutionized everything, Goettl Air Conditioning developed a proprietary air conditioning solution that helped residents become acclimated to the humid southwest desert. Until then, the climate of the desert was uncomfortable, to say the least, and there were not many inventions available at that time that efficiently cooled air that was upward 100 degrees of humid air. Goettl’s technological development is regarded as the major contributing factor to the migration of people to that area during that time period.
This early entry into the marketplace was beneficial not only for the people who integrated into the area, but for the Goettl brand as well. because they introduced innovative solutions in an industry that had virtually no competition, the brand established itself as the leaders in the cooling industry and emerged as a respected brand in the Phoenix area. The business proudly continued to serve the Phoenix area for 64 years until they relocated their headquarters to Tempe in 2003.
A few months back, Goettl was forced to discontinue their manufacturing of their proprietary air conditioning units and equipment. The low cost of foreign manufacturers made the competition hard to beat so the company moved on past their invention and focused their efforts on distributing air conditioners manufactured by other brands.
ARS has been quite occupied with several business acquisitions lately, having purchase four other established brands in the last 12 months. The acquisition of Goettl is unique in that it the potential to expand the business reaches beyond the brands current reach. The Goettl brand, while rich in history, has a strong reputation that is embraced by its’ local community in a way that will carry the brand further than any amount of marketing dollars could do for a startup company.
